Eles se situam, em termos de condutividade, entre metais como cobre e ouro e isolantes como o vidro. Com uma lacuna de energia inferior a 4eV (cerca de 1eV), os semicondutores s\u00e3o fundamentais na f\u00edsica do estado s\u00f3lido. Essa lacuna de energia, ou &#8216;band gap&#8217;, representa um intervalo entre as bandas de val\u00eancia e condu\u00e7\u00e3o onde os estados dos el\u00e9trons s\u00e3o proibidos. Diferentemente dos condutores, os el\u00e9trons em semicondutores precisam de energia adicional, como a proveniente de radia\u00e7\u00e3o ionizante, para atravessar o &#8216;band gap&#8217; e alcan\u00e7ar a banda de condu\u00e7\u00e3o. <\/p>\n<h2>O Transistor de Jun\u00e7\u00e3o Bipolar (BJT)<\/h2>\n<p>O BJT \u00e9 um dispositivo eletr\u00f4nico de tr\u00eas terminais capaz de amplificar ou alternar sinais eletr\u00f4nicos. Sua estrutura \u00e9 composta por tr\u00eas camadas de material semicondutor: uma camada do tipo n, uma do tipo p e outra do tipo n (para transistores NPN) ou p (para transistores PNP). As tr\u00eas regi\u00f5es do BJT s\u00e3o denominadas emissor, base e coletor, sendo a base extremamente fina para facilitar o fluxo de portadores de carga do emissor para o coletor. O funcionamento do BJT baseia-se no controle do fluxo de portadores de carga, que \u00e9 manipulado por uma pequena corrente na base. Esta corrente altera a tens\u00e3o na jun\u00e7\u00e3o base-emissor, permitindo que uma corrente maior flua do emissor para o coletor. Os BJTs s\u00e3o amplamente utilizados em aplica\u00e7\u00f5es eletr\u00f4nicas, como amplificadores de \u00e1udio, receptores de r\u00e1dio e circuitos l\u00f3gicos digitais, sendo particularmente eficazes em aplica\u00e7\u00f5es de baixa tens\u00e3o e baixa pot\u00eancia devido ao seu alto ganho de corrente e velocidades de comuta\u00e7\u00e3o r\u00e1pidas. <\/p>\n<h2>Tipos de Semicondutores<\/h2>\n<p>Os semicondutores s\u00e3o classificados em dois tipos principais, com base em suas propriedades eletr\u00f4nicas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Semicondutores Intr\u00ednsecos:<\/strong> Compostos por um \u00fanico elemento, como sil\u00edcio ou germ\u00e2nio, sem dopagem intencional com impurezas.
