Para medir a corrente em um fio, geralmente \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio interromper ou cortar o fio e inserir o amper\u00edmetro de modo que a corrente a ser medida passe atrav\u00e9s do medidor. Um amper\u00edmetro sempre mede a corrente que passa por ele.
