    Stel dat we een foton hebben met een energie van 2 MeV. We willen controleren of dit voldoende is voor paarproductie.<\/p>\n

    De rustmassa van een elektron is ongeveer 0,511 MeV. Dus voor een elektron-positronpaar is de totale massa-energie:<\/p>\n

    2 * 0,511 MeV = 1,022 MeV<\/p>\n

    Aangezien de energie van ons foton (2 MeV) groter is dan 1,022 MeV, kan dit foton inderdaad een elektron-positronpaar vormen door paarproductie.<\/p>\n
