Ini berbeda dengan transformator biasa yang memiliki lilitan terpisah untuk tiap sisi. Prinsip kerja autotransformator cukup sederhana, tetapi sangat efisien dalam berbagai aplikasi elektronika dan kelistrikan.<\/p>\n<h2>Prinsip Kerja Autotransformator<\/h2>\n<p>Prinsip kerja autotransformator berdasarkan pada induksi elektromagnetik, sama seperti transformator biasa. Namun, di autotransformator, terdapat satu belitan yang memfungsikan baik sebagai lilitan primer maupun sekunder. Lilitan ini memiliki beberapa tap atau sambungan pada titik-titik yang berbeda sepanjang lilitannya.<\/p>\n<p>Ketika tegangan AC diaplikasikan ke bagian lilitan, medan magnet yang dihasilkan oleh arus di lilitan ini akan menginduksi tegangan di sepanjang lilitan lainnya. Perbedaan potensial antara dua titik pada lilitan akan menghasilkan tegangan yang diinginkan, baik itu menaikkan (step-up) atau menurunkan (step-down) tegangan.
