Cette r\u00e9action se produit en pr\u00e9sence d&rsquo;un \u00e9lectrolyte alcalin. La sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9 de la batterie alcaline vient de son \u00e9lectrolyte alcalin de hydroxyde de potassium (KOH), contrairement aux batteries zinc-carbone qui utilisent un \u00e9lectrolyte acide de chlorure d&rsquo;ammonium (NH<sub>4<\/sub>Cl) ou de chlorure de zinc (ZnCl<sub>2<\/sub>).<\/p>\n<p>Diff\u00e9rents syst\u00e8mes de batteries utilisent \u00e9galement des \u00e9lectrolytes alcalins, mais ils emploient des mat\u00e9riaux actifs vari\u00e9s pour les \u00e9lectrodes. La batterie alcaline primaire est largement utilis\u00e9e dans de nombreux appareils portatifs tels que les outils \u00e9lectriques, les radios, les jouets et les t\u00e9l\u00e9commandes. La taille de batterie alcaline la plus courante est la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre batterie AA. Ces batteries sont fr\u00e9quemment utilis\u00e9es dans des appareils portables qui n\u00e9cessitent peu de courant, sont utilis\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re intermittente, ou sont \u00e9loign\u00e9s de toute source d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie alternative, comme dans les circuits d&rsquo;alarme et de communication o\u00f9 l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 est disponible de mani\u00e8re intermittente.<\/p>\n<h2>Batterie Alcaline Rechargeable<\/h2>\n<p>Une batterie alcaline rechargeable, \u00e9galement connue sous le nom de batterie alcaline rechargeable ou rechargeable alcaline au mangan\u00e8se (RAM), est une variante de la batterie alcaline capable d&rsquo;\u00eatre recharg\u00e9e pour une utilisation r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9e. Leur capacit\u00e9 est environ les 2\/3 de celle des cellules primaires. Elles sont de construction de type cellule s\u00e8che, totalement scell\u00e9es et ne n\u00e9cessitent pas d&rsquo;entretien. Les cellules ont une dur\u00e9e de vie limit\u00e9e, affect\u00e9e par les d\u00e9charges profondes; le premier cycle offre la plus grande capacit\u00e9, et si d\u00e9charg\u00e9e profond\u00e9ment, une cellule peut n&rsquo;offrir que 20 cycles.
